Liam tells us more about his winning artwork: And shares water-saving tips!

1. Wheels24: What is the Aqua Transporter?
Liam Sayer: My car is environmentally-friendly and transports water to the surface. The car helps us find aquifers (water pockets) underground and will be able to transport the water to the ground surface and hopefully revolutionise underground travel in the future.

2. Wheels24: What inspired you to draw your car?
Liam: The drought in Cape Town has been a huge concern to me and our dams are so low that I wanted to come up with an idea to help ensure that we could find water. What better way than a car that can do this while it transports people underground.

3. Wheels24: Do you like cars? What is your favourite model?
Liam: Yes I do. My favourite car is a Ferrari because its sporty and can go very fast.

4. Wheels24: How does it feel knowing your art was chosen as one of 30 from 830 000 entries globally?
Liam:
Its feels extraordinary and I feel lucky to have been picked out of so many brilliant pictures and I'm excited to go to Japan.

5. Wheels24: What would you like to be when you grow up?
Liam: I have no idea! Maybe an Architect, I'm really not sure.

6. Wheels24: Are excited about for your trip to Japan?
Liam: Definitely, the tour of the Toyota factory and seeing how they make the cars, also the Japanese culture and what’s unique to Japan.

7. Wheels24: What do you like most about drawing?
Liam: The fact that you start with nothing and anything goes. It’s what you dream in your mind and then it comes to life on paper.

8. Wheels24: Do you have any advice for South Africans to save water in the Western Cape?
Liam: I know we need to save water and I hope everyone understand how important it is. We can all make a difference no matter how small it is. Like showering with a bucket and then watering the garden with the water, not letting the tap run when you brush your teeth. If we ALL save a little we can each make a big difference, in our own way.
