New York - Toyota continues to lead the automotive sector as it's named the leading brand among automakers by Interbrand in its 2017 Best Global Brands report.
Interbrand said: "Auto brands like Nissan and Toyota continue to push boundaries for self-driving and electric cars, with up-and-comer Tesla setting the pace."
Toyota and Mercedes-Benz rank seventh and ninth in the top 100 global rankings.
Top 16 auto brands
Now in its 18th year, the list for automotive and technology brands saw a dominant display in the top 100 rankings, with Mercedes-Benz in second and BMW in third.
Honda is 3rd in the auto sector (20th overall) with Ford in 5th place (33 overall) completing the top 5.
Ferrari joins the list in 15th, moving ahead of Tesla in 16th.
