Win R2bn - stay cool with a Kuga

LONDON, England - When he won a R2-billion Euro lottery jackpot his wife admitted she craved an Audi Q7... a modest ambition, but instead she got a Ford Kuga.

It was the second-largest cash scoop in British history but small-time music shop owner Adrian Bayford, 41, from Suffolk in southern England, didn't opt for a Mercedes, perhaps an Audi A8 or even a matching pair of Ferraris, he went for a Kuga SUV of which he could have bought NINE THOUSAND!

'IT'S A REALLY NICE CAR...'

Townsfolk in Haverhill are, according to the London Daily Mail, pleased that Adrian and Gillian - suddenly the 516th richest couple in Britain - aren't going wild with their win which, invested at 10%, will earn them another R17-million a year. It was also a nice thought that, to celebrate, they bought children Cameron, four, and Aimee, six, a takeaway each from the local Domino's and went on a caravan holiday in Scotland, flying there by EasyJet.

They could (if it were possible, because it is unique) have bought the world’s most expensive car almost seven times over - a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO made for race driver Stirling Moss that sold privately in June for the equivalent of R290-million.

"It’s a really nice car, very new and shiny," the Mail reported a local as saying, "but not what you expect a multi-millionaire to own."

BACK TO WORK

According to the London Sunday Times 'Rich List' their win puts them in the same playpen as Jamie and Jools Oliver (R2.023-billion) and singing stars Sir Tom Jones (R1.89-billion) and Eric Clapton (a paltry R1.75-billion).

Adrian Bayford is, meanwhile, back at his little shop in Haverhill, but his wife Gilllian is quitting hers in Ward D2 at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge... to spend more time with her family.

Awwwww!
