Cape Town - We've done it again and Jaguar's new cat is out of the bag! Wheels24 brings you exclusive spy photos of an undisguised next generation Jaguar XK and it is a stunner.
Our photo editor, William McIntosh, photographed the 2006 Jaguar XK coupe in the Cape Town city centre where the car was on a advertisement shoot.
Our spy photos of the undisguised new XK show that the car is very similar to Jaguar's striking Advanced Lightweight Concept (ALC) which was unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in January.
As with the ALC the XK in our photos has design similarities with that of the Aston Martin DB9. Is Jaguar copying one of its most important rivals?
Well, British designer Ian Callum, who is also the man behind the DB9, designed the ALC.
Little info is yet available about the new XK's engine range and technical spesifications. However, the badging of the vehicle in our photos indicates that a 4.2-litre V8 engine will be part of the line-up.
As with other new Jaguar's and the ALC the 2006 XK will also benefit from Jaguar's aluminium body architecture technology.
It is expected that the new Jaguar XK will be launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September with sales starting soon after that. South Africans can look forward to see the XK here sometime next year.
The new XK will be a 2+2 seater and of course there will be a drop-top version as well. Recently we published photos of the next XK cabriolet, which was undergoing testing in the Northern Cape.
