Video: Fiat's Fatherhood ballad

In December 2012 we featured Fiat’s catchy viral film 'The Motherhood' which continues to gain views in 2013.

The video’s success reminds us all how the web has changed the concept of advertising with its ability to deliver still and video images.

Following in the fabulous footsteps of 'The Motherhood' Fiat has launched a new YouTube film that tells the no-holds-barred truth about life as a new Dad - titled the 'The Fatherhood'.

FROM JACK THE LAD TO DAD

The video follows a weary Dad-of-two trying to get his screaming babies to sleep by driving them around the neighbourhood. As he drives, he starts to sing about his long-lost youth and questions how he’s gone from "Jack the Lad to Jack the Dad".

With brutal honesty and humorous irony he sings to his new-borns:

It’s fine because I love you.
And I’d never trade your mother
But in future I’ll be abstinent and
double up the rubber.

He goes on:

You peed inside my bedding.
But know I’ll get my own back
When I’m dancing at your wedding.

All of this to a cheesy 80's beat.

CAPPUCCINO ANYONE?

The Fatherhood features the new Fiat 500L, Fiat’s latest addition to its 500 family which made its debut at the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show.

The new Fiat 500L is aimed at style-conscious young families who are looking for a car that not only meets their practical needs but also reflects their personality. Significantly larger than the iconic 500, the Fiat 500L sports yuppy accessories such as a built-in Cappuccino maker... yes you read that correctly.

Fiat UK marketing director, Elena Bernardelli, said: “After the phenomenal success of The Motherhood we were inundated with requests to see Dad’s side of the story.

“As with The Motherhood, we wanted Dads everywhere to watch The Fatherhood and nod along to the story we’re telling. Just like the Fiat 500L, we hope The Fatherhood will bring a bit of fun into people’s everyday lives.”
