JOHANNESBURG, Gauteng - More than 18 000 people have watched a video recording of a road-rage incident which took place on Witkoppen road in Fourways, north of this city, at the weekend.

The video, recorded by an eye-witness and shown on eNCA, shows a man violently kicking the window of a VW Polo on the driver's side. A Porsche is parked next to him, with flashing hazard lights on.

The Polo driver then rolls down the window, the other man then violently puts his arms through the window. A struggle seemingly ensues and the man eventually throws something across the road.

ASSAULT CASE OPENED

In an interview with the broadcaster the driver of the Polo - who asked to remain anonymous for fear of victimisation - told eNCA he was punched in the face by the Porsche driver. He said he had opened a case of assault against him.

"I was driving behind him and he was cutting off people left, right and centre. So I went closer to see what kind of a Porsche it was and the passenger threw a can out the window at me," the man was quoted as saying.

"Then he threw another can and it hit my car. So I hooted, flipped him the finger, and asked what the hell he thought he was doing."

The attacker allegedly grabbed the keys out of the ignition and threw them into bushes on the side of the road.

"He damaged my tracking device and stuffed up my side-mirror. It all happened so fast I didn’t even have a chance to think," the man said.
