The tiny eco-friendly ForTwo gets a "confidence boosting" facelift in 2012, at least that's according to Smart. Check out the new look model!
Smart is planning the release of its next generation ForTwo city car. Our spies captured images of a concept version being transported inside a factory in Germany.
The new model will also form the base for a stretched version called the Smart ForTwo+2.
The Smart ForTwo+2 will have rear doors, making access into the tiny rear somewhat easier. An additional model would make the Smart range a bit more competitive with city cars such as the Chevrolet Spark and Kia Picanto.
HYBRID AND ELECTRIC POWER
Both new Smart cars will remain rear-wheel drive, keeping the engine below the floor of the boot. The added length for the back seat in the four-seater will come from an elongated wheelbase.
Although currently unnamed, it is rumoured to retain the ForTwo+2 moniker. The new model will be Smart's first four-seater since the failed Smart ForTour.
The new cars will be available with several engine options, including a hybrid and perhaps even a full electric motor.
