SPOTTED IN ACTION: The Countryman Coupe should make a nice addition to Mini’s line-up when it makes its debut later in 2012.
From the sexy Roadster and Coupe to the unique Countryman and Clubvan, Mini has released some quirky models over the past few years.
In 2011 it revealed its Paceman concept car at the Detroit auto show. In 2012 the model will makes its global debut as the Countryman Coupe at the Paris auto show.
A near-production ready model was spotted undergoing testing in Germany.
REVERSE BASEBALL CAP
As our spy images show, the Mini Countryman Coupe will be almost identical to the Mini Paceman concept save for rear exterior tweaks. Mini appear’s to have combine chunky features and increased ride height of the Countryman with the two-door styling and sloping “reverse baseball cap’ floating roof of the Coupe.
The new model is expected to be powered by the same 1.6-litre engines as the conventional Countryman, including the 82kW/270Nm diesel and the turbocharged 135kW/240Nm petrol for the Cooper S variants.
Mini’s ALL4 all-wheel-drive system will also be available. The Paceman Concept is on schedule to hit dealers in 2013.
