SPIED! Merc's baby CLS?

2011-07-15 07:53

SPOTTED: Mercedes-Benz CLA could debut in 2013.

Our spy photographers spotted a new four-door Mercedes-Benz sedan/coupe, a baby-CLS, based on the next-generation A-Class and due in 2013.

The vehicle is believed to be called the CLA and though shown in our images as an early prototype, it will become an entirely new coupe offering from the German automaker.

ALL-NEW MODEL

The CLA will be front-wheel drive and based on the MFA platform shared with the next-generation A- and B-Class models.

The prototype snapped up by photographers sports heavy camouflage but we can make out the basic contours of this compact sedan/coupe.

As the CLA will be based on the A-Class hatch, engine options will be shared with its sibling and could include a 149kW 2.0-litre petrol and a 126kW 2.2-litre diesel.
