Our spy photographers spotted Kia’s new luxury sedan undergoing testing. Based on the same rear-drive platform as the Hyundai Genesis, the all-new K9 will likely share the same engines.

The new model could feature either a 4.6- or 5.0-litre V8, as well as a V6 engine.

Much like the 2012 Genesis R-Spec, the 5.0-litre engine produces 320kW at 6400rpm and will be mated to an eight speed automatic transmission.

TARGETING LUXURY

The V6 produces 248kW and has a claimed fuel consumption of 8.1l/100km.

The K9's size, paired with the brand’s new design language, is certain to make the new model stand out on the road.

The K9 is set to debut later in 2012, with the Korean automaker aiming at the luxury market in the hopes of drawing more attention to the brand.
