SPIED!: Kia Picanto 2011

2010-11-04 13:43

Our spies in Germany snapped pics of Kia’s new Picanto undergoing testing ahead of its launch next year. The new Picanto is set to get a style makeover courtesy of vehicle designer Peter Schreyer.

Though heavily disguised, it’s clear that the new model retains much of the current model though with some notable changes to the little city car's profile. The new model appears to have replaced the familiar kinked shoulder line and is now more steeply raised giving the Picanto a sportier profile.

Our pics show the new model in five door guise though Kia is considering building a cheaper three-door version. Expect the Picanto to carry many of the design features from the Sportage within the interior.

Under the bonnet, the new Picanto will receive the same one-litre petrol engine as the 2011 Hyundai i10.

The new Picanto will make its global debut at the Geneva auto show in March 2011, while pricing will be around R80 000 - in euros, at least.
