Cadillac is readying a production version of its new model derived from its 2009 Converj concept.
The new ELR, based on the Chevrolet Volt and Opel Ampera platform, will have a tweaked version of the Voltec powertrain and will sport distinctive Cadillac style.
The ELR is a plug-in hybrid that will be built alongside the Volt and Ampera at the automaker's Hamtramck, Michigan facility in the US.

It’s expected to have more power and a longer range (possibly with quicker charging) than its Chevrolet/Opel sibling.
In addition, prices are expected to start well above those of the Chevrolet and Opel electric cars. The Cadillac ELR is likely to be launched towards the end of 2013 or early in 2014.
