Opel has the Corsa OPC, Volkswagen the Polo GTI, while Ford has been somewhat hesitant with the release of its new Fiesta ST...until now.
SPIED!: Hot new Fiesta ST
Hot on the heels of it’s bigger brother, the Focus RS, our spies spotted what will become of the new Fiesta ST undergoing testing in Germany.
Design changes from the current Fiesta include a huge spoiler as well a rear diffuser and a larger front girlle.
The Fiesta ST will sport a new 132 kW 1.6litre EcoBoost petrol engine, though our spies tell us that it’s going to be a lot more environmentally friendly than the ageing 2.0-litre engine it replaces.
The new engine will feature twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT).
A launch date has not been set but our insiders tell us the new Fiesta ST will make its debut either later this year or early 2011.
