SPIED! Ford Focus Electric

Ford has made a promise that several new electric vehicles will be part of their line-up over the next few years and today we bring you a big one!

The tell-tale sign on this prototype's true identity is what it lacks - exhaust pipes.

Judging from the camouflage, we can see that the Focus Electric will be getting a unique nose. The charging port is also sporting a small piece of camouflage.

Much like the Chevy Volt, the Focus Electric will use a lithium-ion battery pack sourced from LG Chem. The battery pack will have liquid cooling to maintain is performance and stretch its battery's lifespa.

Ford is hoping for a one-charge driving range of 160km.

Watch for the Focus Electric to go on sale in the US by the end of 2011 and in Europe and other markets during 2012.

'LOOK MA, NO EXHAUSTS!' That's one tell-tale sign of the new Ford Focus Electric - another is the taped-over power socket over the left rear wheel.
