'Classic car' is a definition dilemma and a burning question among car enthusiasts – when does a car become a classic? Whatever... how about owning an 'as new' 1969 VW Beetle?

TONED-DOWN: Spy shots of the Citroen C4 Picasso show a conservatively-styled car, although still a contender in the MPV section.

Peugeot Citroen revealed what it calls "game-changing" technology and future concepts at its Innovation Day 2013 in France.

As these exclusive spy-shots show, a new incarnation of the Citroen C4 Picasso is well under way and prepares for a launch at the 2013 Frankfurt auto show. If the current car is anything to go by, then the new Picasso will be a force to be reckoned with in terms of ambiance and style in the MPV segment.

However, the old generation might not be used as a benchmark any more. Rumour has it that the "C" series will, from now on, be styled more conservatively, leaving room for the DS line to fill the gap. And these pictures confirm the rumour to some extent.

Still, the small window behind the A-pillar has been kept from the old Picasso.
