Chevrolet is wrapping-up testing of its new electric hatchback spotted by our spy photographers at a car wash in the US.
Chevrolet is wrapping up testing and gearing up for production of its new Spark EV (electric vehicle) - hey, the Electric Spark! Is that cool or what?
Our spies spotted the tiny new EV a car wash in the US. Hope it doesn't shrink or it might disappear altogether...
Whatever, not much has changed on the new model though Chev’s “ink blot” camouflage hides a new front design, including a new grille and updated fog lights. The rear bumper has also been tweaked slightly.
LOW DEMAND IN SA
The new model sports a charging port in front of the driver's door.
Caroline Thomas of General Motors SA, asked what our chances of getting the little cutie were, said: "In the South African market, electric and hybrid vehicles would prove to be expensive and while there are currently no government incentives in place to influence customer behaviour, demand would be very low.
"A further consideration would be the lack of an adequate infrastructure to support the use of these vehicles."
So will the new Chevrolet Electric Spark EV arrive here?
"The Spark EV will be sold in limited quantities in select US and global markets starting in 2013," Thomas said.
