Opel’s upcoming hot hatch, the Astra GTC, is undergoing testing in the US. Our spies managed to capture the hot hatch in action. The new model will be characterised by LED lights front and rear and the aggressively styled front and rear fascias. While the Astra GTC Concept was presented at the 2010 Paris auto show, the production model should go on sale in Europe next year. The GTC will be packing nearly 224kW from General Motor’s two-litre, twin-scroll turbocharged four-cylinder. The new engine will be mated to a six-speed transmission and a limited-slip differential will be added along with a fully adaptive "Flexride" suspension.Opel has tipped its GTC to go head-to-head with Volkswagen’s Scirocco. As to whether the new model was heading to SA we approached General Motors who stated the following:The Opel Astra GTC is a product that is under consideration as we move forward to proactively seek out opportunities to expand our Opel product line-up. Unfortunately, I cannot confirm any details regarding model line-up or pricing.
