DETROIT, Michigan - Toyota has partnered with Nickelodeon, American children’s TV network, to create a one-of-a-kind SpongeBob 2014 Toyota Highlander.
It will feature a custom SpongeBob-themed exterior and an interior design that, Toyota says, "captures all of the character's high-octane energy".
"It’s surely," the Detroit News report says, "the first vehicle inspired by the popular 'SpongeBob SquarePants cartoon (a hit in South Africa) help Toyota to launch its redesigned family-hauler."
MELLOW YELLOW
The exterior is decked out in bright nautical-nonsense. Inside, the SpongeBob-yellow seats have head restraints bearing the character faces of Patrick, Squidward, Sandy Cheeks and the cartoon’s star, SpongeBob himself.
The headliner has a water-colour effect to make it appear to the viewer as if he's looking up from Bikini Bottom, where the characters live under sea.
The automaker revealed the concept vehicle at the weekend during Nickelodeon’s 'SpongeBob Day' at the San Diego Padres vs. San Francisco Giants baseball game.
The special Highlander is scheduled to on a “Happy Driving!” promotional tour to seven US locations.
