Back in May 2013 Wheels24 reported that Formula 1's governing body, the International Automobile Federation, was investigating Mercedes' "secret" Barcelona tyre test.
Ferrari and Red Bull launched a protest after the following 2013 Monaco GP when it emerged that Mercedes had tested Pirelli tyres with its 2013 car after the 2013 Spanish GP in May.
DISCIPLINARY INQUIRY
Now, in June 2013 and with the controversy still raging, the federation has revealed that it will also investigate Ferrari for a similar offence.
It was rumoured that Ferrari had similarly tested tyres after the 2013 Bahrain race, but with a two-year-old car. Test driver Pedro de la Rosa was believed to have been driving.
Now both alleged tests are to be probed and the federation has asked both teams "to reply to a disciplinary inquiry in pursuance of the IAF judicial and disciplinary rules".
