VIENNA, Austra - Daredevil skydiver Felix Baumgartner was convicted and fined for road rage in which he punched a truck driver in the face.
The 2010 incident has dented the image of Baumgartner, who became the first man to break the sound barrier in free-fall in October 2012.
An appeals court in Salzburg upheld a verdict from April 2012, in which Baumgartner was found guilty of bodily injury and fined R16 500.
In September 2010, Baumgartner was involved in an argument between the truck driver and another driver in a traffic jam in Salzburg. Baumgartner took the side of the driver and a scuffle broke out.
Baumgartner appealed the verdict, arguing that he acted in self-defence after the truck driver kicked him.
RECORD-BREAKING FREE FALL
After flying to an altitude of 39 045m in a helium-filled balloon, Baumgartner completed a record breaking jump from the edge of space. Baumgartner reached a speed of 1342.8km/h.
