Silverstone test: Kimi out, Bianchi in

LONDON, England - Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen, who crashed heavily soon after the start of the 2014 British GP on Sunday (July 6), will miss Formula 1 testing at Silverstone to make sure he will be fit for the upcoming German F1 GP.

The race is scheduled for July 20.

Ferrari said on its website that Raikkonen, was recovering from the opening-lap smash into the barrier but still had some pain and bruising in and on his left ankle and knee. A team statement said: "Scuderia Ferrari has decided to rest him so he can be fully fit for Hockenheim."

DE LA ROSA ON TRACK

Jules Bianchi, a Ferrari academy driver who races for Marussia, will take Raikkonen's place on on Wednesday (July 9) with Ferrari's test driver Pedro de la Rosa in the car on Tuesday (July 8).

The test will be De la Rosa's first in the F14 T car after many kilometres on the team's track simulator.

Ferrari added: "During his day on track a comparative test will take place in Maranello and, in a reversal of the usual situation, it will be De la Rosa on track and Fernando Alonso in the simulator."

Bianchi, who scored his and Marussia's first F1 points in Monaco earlier in 2014, last tested for Ferrari in December 2013.
