We can reveal that Volkswagen will launch the sizzling Golf R32 here in August.   It will slot in above the popular Golf GTI and it will be the first Golf with a price tag above R300 000.

However, the R32 is to rival top hot hatches such as the Audi A3 3.2 FSI, BMW 130i and Alfa 147 GTA. Volkswagen will launch two derivatives of the R32, namely manual and DSG. It will also only be available as a 5-door here.

Under its bonnet is a 3.2 litre V6 engine that delivers 184 kW of power at 6 300 r/min while pumping out 320 Nm of ripping torque too.

The power is delivered through a permanent 4-wheel drive (4Motion) set up which in combination with a specially adapted lowered sports suspension (approximately 20 mm).

In terms of performance the R32 lives up to all expectations and it rockets from 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds (6.2sec DSG). Top speed for the R32 is 250 km/h (248 km/h DSG)
