LONDON, England - Formula 1 designer Adrian Newey's teenage son Harrison will be team mate to Michael Schumacher's 15-year-old son, Mick in the 2015 German Formula 4 series.
Van Amersfoort Racing announced on Wednesday (March 11 2015) that it had signed 16-year-old Newey for the International Automobile Federation-approved series.
Schumacher, whose seven-times F1 champion father incurred severe head injuries in a skiing fall in 2013 and is still recovering, joined earlier in March.
Team owner Frits van Amersfoort has worked with a number of top drivers, among them father-and-son Jos and Max Verstappen, said: "This has been one of the most pleasant weeks in our four-decade history. We're extremely honoured to have some of auto racing's most credible people choosing to entrust our team in the development of two promising young talents."
Newey snr has designed title-winning F1 cars for Williams, McLaren and Red Bull and is regarded as a design genius.
Michael Schumacher remains F1's most successful racer with 91 wins in a career in which he won five titles in a row for Ferrari after two with Benetton.
