Mercedes' current A-class has been on the market for about two years, yet according to the automaker it's time for an update of the popular hatchback.

Spy photographers spotted the automaker's smallest model undergoing testing.

Style tweaks seems to be limited to new bumpers as well as redesigned head and taillights. Spy photographers reckon that the interior will receive a careful retouching too and possible improvements to its tech.

There will certainly be a refinement of the engines as well.

The refreshed A-Class is expected to be unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
