Mazda recently showed its Hazumi concept for a small five-door hatchback that has the same Kodo design language as on all new Mazdas - among them the Mazda3, Mazda6, and CX-5.

At the same time Mazda announced that the concept "expresses the ideal form of the company's next-generation sub-compact car" and now our exclusive spy-shots prove it will look pretty close to the next Mazda2.
Carbon-fibred accents are all over the Hazumi's exterior: front bumper, headlight brows, external mirror stalks, rear spoiler and diffuser.
NEW SKYACTIV ENGINE
The headlights use light-emitting diodes each side of a large, pentagonal grille with a sculpted silver bar.
The hatchback is powered by a new member of Mazda's Skyactiv engine family - the 1.5 Skyactiv-D diesel. The engine uses technology and fuel-saving tricks similar to those of the 2.2 diesel currently in showrooms.
Mazda isn't stating power, emissions, or economy figures but claims that it "delivers exceptional driving performance with powerful torque and linear acceleration, as well as outstanding environmental performance".
The Hazumi's cabin tech will be used in the new Mazda 2.
