SPIED: High-performance Opel Corsa OPC

BERLIN, Germany - Opel’s fourth-generation Corsa will make its debut at the 2014 Paris auto show this week (Oct 2). Our spy photographers, however, have already spotted the new performance variant undergoing testing – the Corsa OPC.

While exterior modifications over the standard version will include bigger wheels, a sportier front, a huge wing and large exhausts.

TRACK-TUNED CORSA

The new Corsa OPC will be powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder 1.6 petrol engine capable of 147kW/300Nm. Later in the hot hatch's lifespan, there could be a limited Nurburgring Edition, offering more power, sportier suspension and a limited-slip differential.

Opel could decide to show its Corsa OPC alongside its standard sibling at the 2014 Paris auto show or wait until the 2015 Geneva auto show in March of that year.

NEW OPELS HEADED FOR SA

In August 2014, General Motors South Africa (GMSA) confirmed three new Opel models will be launched in South Africa in 2015 – the new Adam and Corsa hatchback and its Mokka SUV.

The new models form part of GM’s global product offensive which will see 27 new vehicles and 17 engines (in applicable markets) by 2018.
