Cape Town - Though the Ford Mustang topped the sales charts in February 2018, it was Ferrari who ensured petrolhead tongues were wagging.

Ford sold 59 units of its Mustang but Ferrari managed to sell a staggering 11 units in February. The automaker's most popular vehicle locally? The 812 SuperFast which is worth more than R7-million.

Behind the Mustang, in second place, was the Porsche 911. This insanely competent sports car sold an eye-watering 34 units, more than double what its stablemate, the 718 Boxster/Cayman (16 new owners).

The Jaguar F-Type, launched late in 2017, with a new turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine, sold 15 units, just one unit behind Porsche.

The 812 SuperFast, sold a whopping seven units last month to grab fifth place. The Nissan GT-R is in sixth place with 5 units, ahead of another Ferrari, the 488 Spider, in seventh. The Spider was signed off to three local customers.

BMW’s electric sports cars, the i8, also found three new owners, while the Ferrari GTB and Lexus LC 500 each found one new owner to complete the top ten.
