Cape Town - The Ford Ranger is South Africa's best-selling bakkie, with 2875 units sold during May 2017, according to the National Automobile Association of South Africa (Naamsa).
A slight decline in overall bakkie sales was recorded with 210 fewer pick-ups finding local owners compared to the same period in 2016.
In total, 13 410 light commercial vehicles (LCV's) were sold in the fifth month of the year.

SA's favourite vehicle, the Toyota Hilux, remains in contention for the top spot with 2758 sold, though 117 units behind the top-selling Ranger in May.
Both automakers would want to maintain that momentum in June 2017. Toyota will be launching a new Hilux derivative in June/July 2017.
