Cape Town - Volkswagen again showed its dominance in the passenger car market, grabbing 1st and second place in the top ten best-sellers for September 2017.
The Polo Vivo accumulated the second highest sales figure overall for September 2017, with 2942 sold during. The larger Polo (2324 units) was some way off its sibling’s figure but well ahead of the third-placed Toyota Corolla/Auris/Quest.
SA car sales dashboard: Another positive month for local auto market
The Corolla/Auris/Quest accumulated 1845 units, ahead of the Ford Fiesta on 1447. Toyota sold 999 units of its popular SUV - the Fortuner.
Toyota’s budget-beater, the Etios, found 974 new owners to grab sixth place. Kia's city car, the Picanto, found 970 new owners in seventh place, while its Rio sibling moved to ninth with 795 units.
The Ford EcoSport remained a popular choice with 814 models sold in September. Renault’s Kwid continued its drive in SA to grab tenth place after selling 758 units.
