Cape Town - A popular choice amongst South Africa’s car buying public, the Volkswagen Polo again reaffirmed its position as the default compact car.
On 1950 units it left the Ford Fiesta in the dust by more than a thousand units.

The Fiesta found 855 new owners during October 2017, just edging out the Kia Rio in third with 843 units. Renault just missed out on selling 700 Clio’s when 696 units found new owners.

Somewhat in the silence, with hardly anyone taking note, the Toyota Avanza continued its strong march on the South African motoring landscape on 659 units, ahead of the Hyundai i20 (640 units) in sixth place.
Nissan’s Almera found 431 new owners, quite a margin ahead of the eighth-placed Hyundai Accent (346 units).
The Mazda 2 (214 units) and Suzuki Baleno (98 units) round out the top ten.
