SA car sales: Nissan bags a good month all round during July

The Japanese automaker has launched several new models in the past year, updating its range in the local market.

Since the new Navara arrived in 2017, there's also been the new Qashqai, new X-trail and new Micra - a little something for everyone's taste and requirements.

The brand's models have been raking in the numbers each month, some more than others, but the local automaker has managed to maintain its reliable reputation.

During June, Nissan sold 2108 passenger cars and 2 869 light commercial vehicles.

We take a look at the numbers for the month of July.

The Nissan NP200 sold 1356 units while the NP300 Hardbody brought in 1218 new owners. The Datsun Go sees good numbers each month with 461 units sold in July, along with another 111 for the larger GO Plus version.

Another car that does surprisingly well is the Almera with 377 models, the nameplate sells similar numbers consecutively.

The new Micra, launched earlier in June, tallied in 201 models, while the Micra Active sold 205 units. While the latter model is from the previous generation, the derivative was only launched late last year and still proves to be very popular.

The beautiful and practical new X-trail sees 186 units moved, while the Navara bakkie sold 144 units.

Nissan's fuel-efficient, compact crossover SUV, the Qashqai sold 99 units and the Juke did 27.
