SA Women's Car of Year named

SA's female motoring journos have voted and Women on Wheels magazine has announced the winners of its 2013 Women’s Car of the Year Awards.

The overall Belle of the Ball is... the Renault Clio.

FAVOURITE CARS

Charleen Clarke, editor of WOW and convener of the judging panel, said: "We are absolutely thrilled with the participation of our readers in this competition. Because of the volume of votes, these awards are a real-life indicator of South African women’s favourite cars.

"Each year more readers vote for their favourite cars, which just goes to show women are researching and selecting the cars they want to drive. We see precisely the same trend in our drive days for readers. Women are definitely no longer in the back seat when it comes to making vehicle purchasing decisions.”

Together with the readers' votes, a panel of judges added its stamp of approval, including Wheels24's 'SpeedQueen' JANINE-LEE GORDON.

More than 30 000 votes were cast by readers and combined with the judges’ votes to decide the winning cars in 12 categories. They were (by category)...
