ELECTRIC HAMMER: The Rimac Concept_One electric hypercar will make its debut at this year’s Salon Privé, the UK’s most prestigious supercar event.

The Rimac Concept_One electric hypercar will make its debut at this year’s Salon Privé, the UK’s most prestigious supercar event over September 5-7.

Only 88 of the sensational Rimac Concept_One will be produced and each will cost the equivalent of more than R8-million.

The team behind the battery car includes designers who used to work for Italian styling house Pininfarina and top Bulgarian leatherworkers from Vilner, among others.

'EXCEPTIONAL SUPERCAR'

This unique new car can produce the astronomical equivalent of 811kW due to its 92kWh battery which powers four sets of electric motors at each wheel. All four systems can operate independently and accelerate and decelerate hundreds of times per second. Rimac labels this "all-wheel torque vectoring.

The Concept_One’s performance is shattering: 0-100km/h in 2.8 seconds; top speed 300km/h; claimed range 600km. Its kerb weight is 1850kg.

24-year-old Croatian Rimac Automobili CEO, Mate Rimac, said: "We started with a blank sheet of paper. The idea was to create an exceptional supercar with a new propulsion concept. What we have here is a fully-fledged hypercar that is as powerful as a Bugatti, as stylish as a Ferrari and as luxurious as a Mercedes and it forsakes even the tiniest sip of gasoline."

David Bagley, sales director of Salon Privé, said: "We are extremely pleased that the Rimac Concept_One will make its UK debut at Salon Privé. This EV supercar is a true representation of innovation in the electric sector and Salon Privé provides the ideal showcase for the car to be exposed to the UK market."

'MORE TO ENJOY'

Now in its seventh consecutive year, Salon Privé sees itself as firmly established as the UK's most prestigious supercar event and Concours d'Elégance as well as a calendar highlight among enthusiasts, collectors and buyers of modern and classic super cars.

"With more to enjoy than ever before," the media release says, "Salon Privé is once again shaping up to be a fabulous sold-out event. Tickets are fully inclusive of Pommery Champagne, lobster luncheon, English afternoon tea and full access to all areas."

If you're reading this in Europe (or visiting London in September) tickets can be bought on the Salon Privé website  or by calling  +44 (0) 808 100 2205.
