Riders gather ahead of Jozi road-rage case

ROODEPOORT, Johannesburg - Rider gathered outside the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on Thursday (August 21) ahead of the appearance of a man accused of shooting and killing a motorcyclist.

Earlier in 2014, Wheels24 reported that Douglas Pearce was killed in an apparent road-rage confrontation in Randburg on February 14, Johannesburg metro police said.

RIDERS ARRIVE IN SUPPORT

According to police spokesman Katlego Mogale, the motorcyclist confronted the driver with a gun during a heated argument. The driver, who was also armed, shot and killed the rider.

The riders, mostly clad in black leather jackets plastered with emblems, gathered near the entrance of the court. Inside, they lined the aisles of the public gallery as they waited for proceedings to begin.

Labour law consultant Meekahafele Mosooa was to appear for allegedly shooting Douglas Pearce.

He allegedly shot the biker in a road-rage incident on Malibongwe Drive, in Northriding, Johannesburg, in February 2014. During his bail application earlier 2014, Mosooa told the court he acted in self-defence.
