Rider 'rushing to mum' at 234km/h

A 33-year-old man has been arrested for riding at 234km/h on the R21 at the Nellmapius Drive exit near Pretoria.

A Gauteng traffic police spokesperson said the man was arrested just before 11am on the off-ramp outside Pretoria.

RUSHING TO MUM'S SIDE


Nxumalo said: "He was travelling with his girlfriend on a blue Kawasaki ZX and claimed he was rushing to his mother in Pretoria who claimed to be having a panic attack."

The man was charged with reckless and negligent driving with an alternative charge of exceeding the general speed limit of 120km/h, Nxumalo said.

He was released on R1000 bail and will appear in Lyttleton Magistrate's Court.
