Mercedes-Benz AMG will enter the compact hatch/sedan
class with its A45 AMG, its moniker derived from "45 years of AMG".
The model is powered by a 2.0 four-cylinder turbo, capable of 265kW/400Nm mated to a AMG Speedshift DCT seven-speed and sporting all-wheel drive.
The automaker claims the new AMG will use only 6.9 litres/100km, making it compatible with EU6 exhaust emissions requirements.

The A45 AMG will arrive locally at the end of August 2013. Orders can already be placed at Mercedes-Benz dealers, but delivery is scheduled for September 2013.
Wheels24 reader EDWARD MURRAY spotted the A45 4Matic AMG in Centurion:
"I work in Centurion, Wierda Road, Eldoraigne at the Royal Elephant hotel which is next to Mercedes-Benz SA headquarters. On July 30 2013, I was surprised ato see the awesome A45 4Matic AMG. The model drove in front of me at 8am.
"The car had a clear compressor sound coming from its exhausts as it changed gears. It was very distinctive and didn’t sound as aggressive as the C63 AMG.
"It had red stripes, spoiler and side mirrors. The brake calipers were also finished in red. Overall it looked very sporty!"
