New Fiat Croma station wagon here

Wheels24 managing editor John Oxley is on the launch of the Croma today and we will publish his impressions of the newcomer on Wednesday.

The Croma which comes with a 108 kW 2.2-litre petrol engine is available with a six-speed manual and a five-speed automatic transmission. The manual derivative's price tag is R215 000 and the auto model costs R227 000.

A 1.9 turbodiesel model will join the line-up in the middle of next year.

The car comes with a host of standard features suchs as ESP with integrated Hill Holder (assists the driver on hill starts), xenon headlights, large "aspherical" rear-view mirrors, up to nine airbags (including a standard driver's side knee bag); automatic dual-zone climate control system, and the Hi-fi system with eight speakers and sub-woofer.
