ALL SMILES DESPITE PERFORMANCE: Fernando Alonso says he will remain positive despite McLaren's performance in China. Image: AFP / Greg Baker
Sometimes we make an error in judgment and I feel for McLaren-Honda's Fernando Alonso, especially now that Ferrari has delivered a decent car.
So just to align, Kimi Raikkonin is performing much better and is happy with the Ferrari. Last year, though, he was miserable and Alonso either out- qualified him or finished higher than him in the points.
'THE CAR WAS THE PROBLEM'
What it means is that firstly he wasn't the problem - the car was and secondly, he would be performing just as well as Sebastian Vettel if not better had he stayed and lastly, Ferrari was the problem because it didn't deliver the right equipment.
I'm not a fan of Alonso but joining Mclaren is like "out of the pan into the fire" situation.
He has to show tremendous courage and resilience to make it past this phase. I think this may even be a career deciding blow to Alonso if it does not work sooner rather than later. His persona and confidence is the worst that I've seen and I hope for his sake that something gives in and he steps onto that podium or else Flavio (Briatore, former Renault team boss) will have a hard time convincing him to stay in F1.....
