BERLIN, Germany - Wheels24's spy photographers have captured images of the new Chevrolet Camaro fitted with a new four-cylinder engine.
According to Automedia: "We were able to follow the Camaro for 8km and take in its exhaust note and, boy!, does it sound like a Honda Civic with an exhaust kit."
The next-generation Camaro is moving to the smaller Alpha platform, shared with the Cadillac ATS and CTS. In addition to V6 and V8 engines, it's expected to get a two-litre turbo four that's shared with the Cadillac sedans. In those applications, it produces 201kW, far less than the new Ford Mustang's 2.3-litre turbo four.

Reports suggest the 2.0T could be the base engine for the Camaro, with the new 3.6-litre V6 shown in the new Cadillac CT6 the uplevel option before V8s. The four-cyclinder unit shouldn't be a slouch, considering the Camaro is expected to lose at least 91kg over the outgoing model thanks to the new platform and more use of aluminium and other light-weight materials.
