The next X5 is to grow in size and will be longer, wider and taller than the current model. Its extra length will accommodate an optional third row of seats.
This extra row of seats will enable the X5 to compete against SUVs such as the Mercedes G-Class and Audi Q7.
The engine line-up is expected to include updated versions of the current 3-litre straight-six and 4.8-litre V8, while a new 4-litre unit is also on the cards. According to insider an all-new 4-litre V8 turbodiesel is also being developed.
The new X5 will sit on a reengineered chassis of the current model and the op models will feature the self-levelling air springs.
