The most powerful production BMWs ever launched come to SA later in 2013.

The mighty BMW M5 and M6 will have even more power with the addition of an optional Competition package taking it to 428kW/680Nm up from 412kW, and boasting with the fastest zero to 100km/h sprint of 4.2-seconds.

BMW SA says the packages can be ordered locally from July 2013 and will arrive on showroom floors in October.

The new BMW M5 will see the same changes to the 5 Series range while also adding M specific enhancements such as the M Double-spoke kidney grille already seen on the M6 Coupe and Convertible. There’s also the new M steering wheel with M paddles and new rear lights with thin blade technology.

The Competition Package includes sport suspension settings, sport steering, exhaust with black chromed exhausts and exclusive 20" alloys.

The Active M Differential has been tuned to optimise cornering agility. Other new options include black 20" alloys , new colours, upholstery and interior trim choices and adaptive LEDs.

The new BMW M6 Coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupé will also be available with the Competition package.
