Merc's baby gets 'most beautiful'

HEY GOOD-LOOKING! The Mercedes-Benz A-Class has claimed the "most beautiful" title by car fans.

Mercedes-Benz has revealed its 155kW A-Class at the 2012 Geneva auto show to challenge BMW's 1 Series M Coupe.

PARIS, France –  TV channel Eurosport launched a huge campaign in search of the “The Most Beautiful Car of the Year 2012” with seven mini-websites, in various languages.

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class came out victorious when more than 100 000 petrol junkies across 52 countries chose it.

The award was presented on January 29 2013 at the International Automobile Festival in Paris to Mercedes-Benz France director Marc Langenbrinck.

The general public has been voting annually for this category since 1987 and this time votes were accepted between December 6 2012 and January 20 2013.

This award is just one more to add to the A-Class’s list for progressive design and it was named “Germany’s Most Beautiful Car” at the 2012 Auto Bild design awards.

The readers of the German Adac Motorwelt and Adac website readers also showed their support by awarding the Yellow Angel 2013 as Europe’s largest automobile club.

Other finalists included the Mini Paceman and the Peugeot 208 Gti, while the BMW 3 Series Touring, Mazda6 and Renault Clio made it to the final round up against the A-Class.

If South Africa had a most beautiful Car of the Year, we’d like to see the new VW Beetle, Porsche Boxster, Mercedes-Benz SL, Toyota 86, Volvo V40 and Aston Martin Rapide S up for the running.
