Leaf line electrifies Silverstone

LONDON, England - The award-winning Nissan Leaf has entered the record books again.

A convoy of 225 electric Leafs were driven around the Silverstone race circuit in England to break the Guinness World Record for "the largest parade of electric vehicles".

Nissan's record parade beat the previous record of 218 held by Chrysler in the US. Leaf owners travelled from all over the UK to meet up at the circuit on November 24 2012.

RECORD-BREAKING LEAF

The event was organised by Nissan to bring together owners of the world’s best-selling battery vehicle to share their ownership experiences and to gather information about how they use their cars.

The cars paraded around the circuit for 3.2km under the watchful eye of the Guinness World Record adjudicators.

Paul O’Neill, Nissan’s product manager for the Leaf, said: “It was great to see so many Leafs on the track at the same time. We're delighted to have broken the Guinness record and want to thank all the owners who helped us achieve this. We couldn’t have done it without them.”

The Nissan Leaf entered the record books earlier in 2012 by becoming the fastest car 1.6km in reverse, set at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June 2012 by stunt driver Terry Grant.
