• All work carried out free of charge
• Kia to contact affected owners by post
LONDON, England - Kia Motors UK is recalling 5787 Sportage and 1432 Soul units due to a possible fault with the vehicle’s seat-belt pre-tensioner.
Kia there is not aware of any injuries resulting from this possible fault, discovered as a result of monitoring customers' vehicles, but is concerned that some pre-tensioners may not work properly due to a faulty piston.
Kia will contact all affected UK owners and advise them to take their car to their nearest dealer to be checked. Any faulty pre-tensioner will be replaced.
FAULTY BATCH
Only vehicles fitted with components from the faulty batch need to be inspected. Other Sportage and Soul units are not affected. The Sportage models were built at Kia’s Zilina, Slovakia, factory from October 2011 to November 2012, the Souls at Kwangju in Korea from August 2011 to March 2012.
The fault does not affect the all-new Soul just announced in the UK.
The new Kia Soul was launched in the UK in April 2014 and it will arrive in South Africa later in 2014.
Kia SA has investigated and found that the affected units have only been sold in Europe.
