Kart wars at Killarney next weekend

  • WP Regional Kart Championships Round 34
  • Killarney Kart Circuit Cape Town
  • June 7 2014

CAPE TOWN - Round 4 of the Western Cape Karting championships promises explosive action with vendettas to settle and some new developments as rivals come together to race at Killarney.

Most of the interest involves the High School Junior Max 125cc class after a controversial race saw championship contenders Delano Fowler and Kohen Bam excluded when Bam was found underweight in Race 2 and Fowler was thrown out for the day for taking photos of Bam’s kart on the scales.

Kohen Bam's younger brother Henry grabbed an unexpected championship lead over his brother as well as Dino Stermin, impressive rookie Giordano Lupini, Isabelle Fowler and Chadley Swartz. Sebastian Boyd and double WP Maxterino champion Dari Busi are ones to look out for at the race on June 7.

PURPLE PATCH

JP Hamman, Aidan Strydom, Charl Visser and Jason Coetzee will challenge each other with Tyler Croy, Tate Bishop and Joseph Oelz among several children snapping at their heels.

Luke Herring has proved a tough opponent for Julian van der Watt, Umpie Swart, Eugene Deneyssen and Jono Aberdein in the open Max Challenge 125cc Class. Luke van Rensburg will try to get back into the DD2 125cc gearbox action after his National Rally debut and missing the previous round. Van Rensburg will challenge for the podium against Wesleigh Orr, Luca Canderle and Jono Thomas.

Troy Dolinschek is enjoying a purple patch in the under eight years old Cadets, but Kyle Visser, Adriaan Louw, Jason MacBeath, Julius Schwager and Paul Malcolm will be out to stop his winning streak. The Cape Clubmen can be expected to deliver enthusiastic racing with Dale Fourie in Class A, James Fraser and Mark Manson in Class B and Dylan Mitchell and Mike Cook in Class C among the contenders.

Qualifying in the morning on race day and racing from noon on Saturday June 7 2014 with three heats per class.
