BERLIN, Germany - Jaguar has announced its high-riding crossover will be commercialised with the "F-Pace" moniker . The new crossover has undergone major chassis testing at the iconic Nurburgring track in Germany.
Essentially a production version of the C-X17 concept, the Jaguar F-Pace will be “the ultimate practical sports car,” according to global sales director Andy Goss.
Rather than being labeled as a crossover or SUV, Jaguar calls its new model a “family sports car”, sharing the same lightweight platform with the XE compact sedan from where it will likely inherit the engine line-up.

Expect the new model to go on sale in 2016 and will likely be offered not only with four seats but also with five as previewed by the concept showcased at the Guangzhou auto show in November 2013.
Jaguar says its new model will combine an exterior design influenced by its sports car with a "thoroughly practical and spacious luxury interior."
