LONDON, England - Jaguar will launch its second-generation XF at the 2015 New York auto show on April 1. Ahead of its New York show debut, the automaker will attempt a thrilling high-wire water crossing, as it attempt to record the longest distance driven on a wire by a car.
Jaguar teamed-up with stuntman Jim Dowdell, veteran of stunts in James Bond movies, the Bourne series and Indiana Jones, to perform the stunt behind the wheel of the XF.
The stunt will see Dowdell attempt to drive on two 34mm-diameter wires suspended above water. Jaguar says it aimas to " highlight the lightweight and agile credentials of its new XF" and will stream the record attempt on its website on 24 March.
'BEST LOOKING CAR IN ITS CLASS'
The XF, first launched in 2007, is Jaguar’s best selling vehicle. The new XF will be the second Jaguar to use the automaker's advanced aluminium architecture.
Jaguar claims its -new XF will set the benchmarks for weight and efficiency, with a fuel consumption figure of 4 litres/100km.
Jaguar's director of design, Ian Callum, said: “I believe the all-new XF will be the best looking car in its class. Elegant, handsome and with proportions that imbue a great sense of integrity – the all-new XF will be true to the strong tradition of sporting Jaguar saloons while being completely of its time.”
Technical and price details will be announced at 2015 New York auto show.
