JOHANNESBURG, Gauteng - Johannesburg Metro police on Saturday said two officers shown on a video apparently taking a bribe in Westdene have been removed from their usual duties.
Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said: "A formal complaint has been laid and the officers involved have been taken out of uniform and transferred to administrative duty.”
A disciplinary process would follow. “JMPD does not tolerate corruption.”
FRIENDLY CHAT?
A video posted on Youtube and time-stamped January 1 2015 show a black VW Golf being followed by a clearly marked Metro police car. Both cars stop and two obese Metro officers exit their car; the driver and passenger from the Golf also step out of their car

One officer appears to check the licence disc on the Golf’s windscreen then the four seem to chat before the police return to their vehicle, followed by the two civilians. It seems a bribe was handed over before both cars depart.
Frikkie Botes, who posted the video to Youtube, also posted a comment saying a formal complaint was made on January 2.
Minnaar urged citizens to report corrupt Metro officials: "Anybody who comes across a corrupt Metro officer or is asked for a bribe must report the incident immediately to the JMPD’s 24-hour anti-corruption hotline: 0800-203712."
