Volkswagen Group SA has announced a major staff change at board level which will take effect in October 2013.Mike Glendinning, VWSA sales and marketing director, has been made vice-president of sales and marketing at VW Mexico and is being replaced by Petra Hoffmann, currently head of VW sales and marketing for parts and service in Kassel, Germany. Glendinning joined VWSA as a graduate trainee in 1985 and has since held many senior positions, among them influencing and guiding VW’s advertising over the years. He headed the Audi brand from 1999-2004 before taking over the VW brand and joining the VWSA board as sales and marketing director in 2006.'INDELIBLE LEGACY'David Powels, VW Group SA's MD, said: “Mike's contribution to the sustainable success of the VW Group in South Africa cannot be underestimated. He leaves a legacy that will be an indelible part of our company’s history."Glendinning will be replaced by Petra Hoffmann current head of the group parts and services division in Kassel, Germany. She spent some months at VWSA in the mid-nineties, has an MBA from the University of Saarbruecken in Germany and joined the VW group in 1995 as a trainee. She has held various senior positions with Volkswagen, among them head of sales for Auto 5000 in Wolfsburg, Germany, and regional sales manager for the VW brand for key European markets.Hoffmann will move to Johannesburg and have overall sales and marketing responsibility for the VW, Audi and VW Commercial brands.
