Volkswagen South Africa has issued a statement that it is to recall certain Polo models.
According to the carmaker the recall involves the 96kW 1.9 TDI Polo derivative, produced between January 2005 and May 2008.
Though VW said it will attempt contacting the 4 836 affected owners, the carmaker urged owners to contact their nearest dealership.
The recall was issued due to problems with the reliability of the TDI engine’s turbo charger.
An inspection may necessitate the replacement of the turbo charger. This will be covered by the manufacturers’ warranty.
